Winter is usually the on season, or peak season for tourists in most parts of India, with main places of attractions heavily crowded and food and accommodations likely to cost more. It could also be hard to find good accommodations if not booked well in advance.

While this year 2013 has another month to go, bookings for the year end new year celebrations have already begun at the begnning of November itself.

According to the estimates made by the ASSOCHAM, bookings for Christmas and New Year eve’s celebrations have already begun.

Releasing the findings of ASSOCHAM survey, Chamber's Secretary General, Mr. D.S. Rawat said, “there is steady increase in hotel occupancy mostly in North India and other traditional tourist destinations…”

The impact is already being seen by way 35-40% increase in tariffs for hotel accommodations as food & beverage costs are also running up by nearly 30-35%, from the bottom witnessed last year, according to the press release of this survey.
