Here are four 24x7 helpline numbers which can be useful for you round-the-clock, during your tours or travels in India.
1. Tourist Helpline Number
For general info, inquiry, assistance and emergency.
24x7 Toll-free Tourist Helpline No.: 1800-11-1363, Short Code: 1363.
This round-the-clock toll free tourist helpline will not only provide general information related to travel and tourism in India, but also serve as a helpline in times of emergencies and distress, whether you're a domestic or an international tourist in India.
The languages supported are : English, Hindi, Arabic, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin (Chinese), Portuguese, and Russian.
This 24x7 Toll Free Tourist Info and Helpline was launched on 8th February, 2016. This Information & Helpline service provides information relating to Travel and Tourism in India to both the domestic and international tourists or visitors, and provides advice on action to be taken during times of distress while travelling in India. 2. Railway Helpline Number
Indian Railway's integrated number for all types of queries, info, inquiry, complaints, help and assistance, etc., and emergency.
You can use the railway helpline number 139 for Inquiry, Assistance & Grievance Redressal, and also for Security or Medical Assistance.
139 is an integrated railway helpline number for all type of queries, complaints, and assistance during train travel.
You can use this single railway helpline number to make a call for enquiry, to get help and assistance, or to register complaints regarding trains, journeys, or railway stations. In addition to passenger services, you can also make inquiries on freight or parcel services through this helpline.
This helpline number is for Indian Railways passengers or consumers, while travelling in Indian Railways trains or for any inquiry or help, whether it be general or emergency, or for registering complaints or grievances, related to Indian Railways trains or services. The languages supported are English, Hindi, and regional languages.
Since March 2021, this new helpline number 139 has replaced all the earlier existing railway helpline numbers. To overcome the inconvenience of multiple helpline numbers for grievances and enquiry during railway travel, Indian Railway integrated all their railway helplines into this single number 139 (Rail Madad Helpline) for quick grievance redressal and enquiry during the journey.[2]
3. National Highway Helpline Number
For inquiry, complaints, help and assistance, and emergency; in and related to tolled stretches of national highways of India.
The 1033 toll-free National Highway Helpline Number assists you to report both emergency or non-emergency issues across tolled National Highways stretches in India.
You can contact this 24x7 National Highway helpline at 1033 for any roadside assistance or to report emergencies, such as, a road accident on the national highway.
For example, this helpline can be contacted for assistance during vehicle breakdown or an emergency like an accident, for assistance to road accident victims, such as, arranging ambulance, highway patrol vehicle and cranes.
You can also use this helpline number for FASTag related support, such as, FASTag related complaints and queries, and for feedback about facilities or amenities available at the Toll Plazas or along the National Highways.
In addition to this, national highway users can raise complaints regarding infrastructure, operations at National Highways toll plazas, and the quality of highway roads, through this toll-free helpline. [3]
Note that this number is applicable only in cases when you're travelling through tolled stretches of National Highways in India. That is, this number is not applicable for other roads and highways such as non-tolled national highways or state highways.

Developed by NHAI (National Highways Authority of India), this toll-free Emergency number 1033 for national highway users, was launched in March 2018. This toll-free number enables users to report in case of emergency or highway-related feedback, across the highway. This service is also integrated with ambulance and tow away services along those highways. [4]
4. Common Emergency Number
For emergency cases only; such as, police, ambulance, fire and rescue.
112 is an internationally recognised emergency number, which you can call in case of various emergencies, such as, contacting the Police, Ambulance or Fire and Rescue emergency services.
The Pan-India 112 emergency number can be connected through phone call, SMS, e-mail, panic button and a mobile App called '112 India'. This number is applicable anywhere in India. You can use this emergency number if you require emergency assistance from Police, Fire & Rescue, Health, and other emergency services.
112 is a globally recognised single emergency number which is used in most European countries, Commonwealth Nations, and is mapped to emergency numbers in USA and Canada. Most phone handsets are pre-programmed with 112 as emergency number. This number is used as a single emergency number in India since May 2015. [5]
IMPORTANT: Please note that unlike other aforementioned helplines, 112 is a common emergency number only and it is not a general helpline. Use it only in case of emergency and do not use it for general information or inquiry.
