Bengaluru Metro train fares to be hiked from 9 February 2025 - Here are the details

Here are the details of the new revised fares for Bengaluru's Namma Metro train, which come into effect from 9 February 2025.

The fares for the Namma Metro trains in Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore) are being hiked, with effect from 9 February 2025. Below are details of the revised fares per distance stage in kilometres, details on revised Smart Card discounts, and also the revised fares for Tourist Cards (Day Passes) and Group Tickets.

As per the recent post on X by Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), which was posted today on 8 February 2025, the revised fare structure, as per the Fare Fixation Committee’s recommendations, takes effect from tomorrow 9th February 2025.

The existing 5% discount on Smart Cards is going to continue, with an additional 5% discount given on Smart Cards for travel during non peak hours. The fares for Tourist Cards and Group Tickets was also revised.

Details of the new revised fares in Rupees (INR) per distance stages in Kilometres, are in the below table.

Smart Card discount details

In their post on X on 8 February 2025, BMRCL gives details on Smart Card discounts for on-peak hour or off-peak hours, and it also describes which period of times are considered as off-peak hours.

  • Existing 5% discount on Smart Cards will continue. This is applicable during any time, whether On-Peak Hour of Off-Peak Hour travelling.
  • An additional 5% Discount on Smart Cards is offered if travelling during off-peak hours. That is, you effectively get a 10% discount on Smart Cards if you're travelling during Off-Peak hours based on the time of entry into the Metro system.
  • Off Peak Hours are described as follows :
    • From Starting time till 8 AM
    • 12 PM to 4 PM
    • 9 PM to Closing Hours on Weekdays
  • Discount on Smart Cards will be 10% throughout the day on all Sundays and National Holidays on January 26, August 15, and October 2.
  • A minimum balance of ₹ 90 rupees (INR) should be maintained in the Smart Cards.

Revised Fares for Tourist Cards (day passes) and Group Tickets

As per BMRCL's post on X on 8th February 2025, the validity of the Tourist Cards or Day Passes are available for 1 day, 3 days, or 5 days.

And the cost of Group Tickets depend upon the group size (number of people in the group), and whether all people in the group get in and out of the metro train at the same train station or different stations.

As per BMRCL's post on X, the Fare Fixation Committee had submitted its report recommending the revised fare structure on 16 December 2024. As per Section 37 of the Metro Railways (Operation & Maintenance) Act, the recommendations of the Fare Fixation Committee shall be binding on the Metro Railway Administration. With the due approval of BMRCL board, the revised fare structure comes into effect from 09 February 2025.
