Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has installed 54 high-quality coolers at key spots around Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

The summer is extra-hot this time in India and there were already heat wave warnings for some regions in the last month itself. To provide better comfort and relief to tourists in the summers, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has installed 54 high-quality coolers at key spots around Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
This information was given by ASI in their recent post on X, made today on 2 April 2025. In this post, the ASI further stated that it is committed to continuously enhance the visitor experience and to ensure that the cultural and historical significance of the Taj Mahal is preserved.
Through this initiative, ASI aims to relieve Taj Mahal's visitors from the intense summer heat, especially during the afternoon, when the summer heat is at its maximum during the day.

As you'd already know, Taj Mahal is one of the most popular, iconic, and most visited monuments in India, which is visited by several tourists from within the country as well as by tourists from all over the world.
In their post on X, the ASI further mentioned that the coolers are installed by the support of Kapsun Resource Corporation, as part of their CSR efforts under ASI’s Adopt A Heritage 2.0 program.
As per a report by Ministry of Culture on February 3, 2025, the “Adopt A Heritage” programme was first launched by the Ministry of Tourism in September 2017. A revamped version titled “Adopt A Heritage 2.0” was launched by the Ministry of Culture in September 2023.
This program seeks to provide a framework for collaboration with private and public sector companies, NGOs, trusts, or societies, etc., to develop or provide amenities in Protected Monuments in India through their CSR funds, to enhance the visitor experience and also to make the adopted monument visitor-friendly.
The amenities are categorised into four broad categories, which are: Hygiene, including toilets, drinking water, waste management, baby care rooms, etc.; Accessibility, including pathways, barrier-free access, battery operated vehicles, signage, landscaping, Wi-Fi facility, parking, etc.; Safety, including CCTV, lighting, illumination, cloakrooms, first aid kits, etc.; and Knowledge, including publications, souvenir kiosks, cultural/light and sound shows, AR/VR tools, cafeteria, etc.
And if you're planning to travel during this hot summer season in India, we'd suggest that you'd follow the best practices for summer travel, which will be useful when travelling or visiting monuments during the hot summer seasons.
