Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad is now the third airport in India to have this low-cost affordable cafe.

UDAN Yatri Cafe was inaugurated today, on 7 March 2025, at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, in Gujarat, by the Union Minister for Civil Aviation Shri Ram Mohan Naidu. This is the third budget-friendly UDAN Yatri Cafe in India.
In Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmadabad, the UDAN Yatri Cafe is located at the check-in hall of Terminal 1. This new cafe will provide snacks starting at ₹ 20.
The UDAN Yatri Café aims to provide quality food at accessible prices, making airport refreshments more affordable for passengers. As per the Ministry of Civil Aviation's report today on 7 March 2025, this is a significant milestone in the Government’s initiative to enhance passenger facilities at airports across India. With the launch of the UDAN Yatri Cafes, the Indian Government aims to make airways travel more inclusive.

UDAN Yatri Cafes aim to provide air travellers at the airports in India with good quality hygienic refreshments such as food and drinks, at a low cost or affordable prices.
It's menu, as seen from today's inauguration pictures, is as follows:
- Water Bottle at ₹ 10
- Tea at ₹ 10
- Coffee at ₹ 20
- Samosa (1 piece) at ₹ 20
- Sweet of the day at ₹ 20
The first UDAN Yatri Cafe was launched around three months ago, in December 2024, at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, on its 100th anniversary.
This first UDAN Yatri Cafe was greatly successful after its launch and has received good feedback from airways travellers, of having high satisfaction with the quality, taste and low cost of the food and drink items that are available at the cafe.
Just last week on 27 February 2025, UDAN Yatri Cafe was inaugurated at Chennai Airport, and it became the second airport in India to have one of these low-cost affordable cafes.
The Civil Aviation Ministry had announced during the launch of the first UDAN Yatri Cafe that more such cafes would be opened at other airports across India too, based upon its success.
And during the launch of UDAN Yatri Cafe at Chennai Airport, the ministry had announced that due to a great demand and feedback by airways travellers, this Cafe initiative is now being expanded to other airports across India.
And now, Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport has become the third airport in India to have an UDAN Yatri Cafe. And it looks like more airports across India may soon be getting such affordable cafes too.
UDAN Yatri Cafe is an initiative by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and Airports Authority of India (AAI), which aims to bring affordable and quality food options to enhance the travel experience for everyone.
If you're a frequent air traveller, you'd already know how expensive food is at the airports, and this kind of an initiative is certainly appreciable when they provide quality essentials like food and water at affordable prices.
UDAN means "Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik", which essentially means "the common citizen of the country flies", which aims to make air travel affordable for the masses. The word Yatri means traveller, and the name essentially means Traveller Café or Traveller's Café.
